Please keep in mind that many directories offer free listings. If you need assistance with adding your business information to Web directories, just let us know.
Facial recognition software, a technology commonly used at airports, police stations and motor vehicle centers, is now live on Facebook. This new feature matches newly uploaded photos to images in your current album and then suggests the name of a friend/family member in the photo for tagging purposes.
Some regulators are now looking into privacy issues sparked by this new Facebook software. However, it is our belief that many Americans are not as concerned as they were years ago regarding Facebook privacy. Think about it – the more you post, poke, ‘like’, ‘tag’ and ‘check-in,’ the less you care about online privacy.
If you are still uncomfortable with the facial recognition tool, you can turn it off in your Privacy Settings. All that you have to do is click on “Customize Settings” and then “Suggest photos of me to friends.” Once you disable this feature, your name will no longer be suggested in photo tags (however, people will still have the ability to tag you manually).
It is the first work week of the new year. Many companies are either rolling out their new marketing programs or updating current ones to improve their effectiveness. As you execute your direct marketing (sales brochures, catalogs and flyers) and advertising campaigns (print media, outdoor advertising and online advertisements), be sure to produce creative and eye catching designs using vibrant and fashionable colors. The shade of the year is honeysuckle and according to Pantone, this red-pink hue is considered a “captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going.”

This Election Day, many Americans are researching the politicians before they vote for them. I just listened to 14 voicemails from my local politicians as well as reviewed their postcards, brochures and other promotional leaflets. Over the weekend, I heard friends and family discuss the candidate pool as well as watched cable news shows for debate recaps. I also scoured the Internet (i.e. reviewed online editorial content, Twitter and Facebook postings) over the past month to keep abreast of campaign trail happenings.
Along with many others, I have embraced both traditional communication methods as well as new technologies to help make informed decisions about which candidates to support.
This Election year – If you are a business owner – pay close attention to how politicians promote themselves to the general public. They spend much of the campaign funds in areas such as advertising, public relations, social media and events to help differentiate themselves from their competitors.
More and more businesses are using social media to make new business connections and to strengthen their personal connection with customers. Two of the most popular social networking services – Twitter and Facebook – and are now designed to be easy-to-use, with no special coding required.
